CARE OF THE CEMETERY
For many years the Southern Necropolis has been subject to the constant growth of ivy and accumulation of heavy vegetation along the pathways and covering many of the walls and headstones within the cemetery.
Although in the past the city council had been contributing towards dealing with this problem the situation needed to be addressed quickly so as to save some of the many unique monuments and improve the landscape of the three sections of the Southern Necropolis.
Thankfully due to the pro-activity of a local resident, much needed ivy clearing of the paths and headstones has been addressed.
This invaluable work has now lead to Rick setting up the Southern Necropolis Action Group which aims to
“take action regarding litter, anti - social behaviour and to maintain the general area, removal of the ivy covering the walls etc”
WANT TO GET INVOLVED ??
The group are looking for like minded individuals like ourselves who can volunteer (when they can) to come along to the Southern Necropolis and join us in keeping the area as clear and clean as possible.
